About
I began using video and photography in my work to document project activities with partners in Kyrgyzstan Central Asia, in 2002. At the same time, I began to recognise that digital video and photography was a uniquely appropriate creative device for engaging in cross cultural ethnographic research and community development. I established the Visible Voice Research Network in 2006 to support my work with international partners. At the moment I am working on a number of projects with semi nomadic communities in two remote mountain villages in Kyrgyzstan, residents of Rocinha, Brazil’s largest favela settlement in Rio de Janeiro, Gypsy and Traveller communities in Cumbria and refugee and migrant communities in the North west of England.
